Watch me rewrite a CV during my CV Workshop session last night
During last night's Tiktok Live, Maciej sent me over his CV to review. I do this a lot in TikTok Lives – and normally I'll do perhaps 2-3 minutes of commentary and move on to the next CV in the queue.
It was a little quieter in the Live last night so I had an idea: I offered to try writing a new version of Maciej's CV there-and-then, using my preferred approach.
I fired up Microsoft Word and invited Maciej on to the Live to talk along with me.
This is essentially the same approach I use when I'm doing private 1:1 CV consultation sessions, so if you're curious to see how I like to lay things out and think about things 'live', check out the video below, published with Maciej's approval.
You'll see me:
- Make Maciej's CV from scratch using Word
- Refer to Maciej's existing CV for a bit of inspiration
- Pepper Maciej with questions about his existing responsibilities to try and tease out some modified, improved, great sounding bullet points
- Get an idea for why I specifically prefer the 'two words in bold' format for experience bullet points
- See me searching for better ways of describing responsibilities in real time
- Watch how I lay out the separate parts of his career in my favourite format
- Get a flavour for why I like a clean, bold, simple format that includes duties and outcomes, with each bullet point normally no longer than 2 sentences
This is the 6-minute summary:
Here is the full 27 minutes:
(Edited a bit for brevity and to remove a hundreds of umms and ahhs from me when I'm busy thinking)
This session also draws upon all of the points in my CV Course - if you'd like to get access to all 4-hours and 29 chapters instantly, all the details are right here and it's just £20.
Thank you to Maciej for participating and for his approval to publish.
